For God’s Sake, If You Meter Your Stories, Buy a Membership Already!
A call to action for all writers who meter their stories to earn money to purchase a paid membership and for those with a paid membership not to read stories by those who don’t have them
Not to beat a dead horse, but enough already! I know I’ve written about this before, but I think it’s time to take off the kid gloves. I have never understood why Medium does the memberships and earning this way, but since they don’t seem to be open to considering the repeated request from so many of us, it’s time to take matters into our own hands.
It’s a lovely thing to have a platform that allows writers to publish and earn money, even when they don’t pay for a membership to the platform. Well, at least it is unless the money that pays them comes exclusively from paid memberships. Then the system doesn’t make sense.
For those not already aware, here’s the problem. The only pool of money used to pay writers comes from paid memberships. When there is a large number of writers who want to earn money on the platform, but refuse to buy memberships this means that the pool is even smaller than it would be otherwise.
