I think if you can find a woman that has succeeded in the area you are in and what you aspire to who is outside the situation and can be neutral, that’s a good person to talk to. They can tell you what they dealt with, how they did so and whether or not something is over the top. Sometimes girlfriends who are at the same level and working in the same area will have the same complaints and concerns so that they may not be the most helpful at seeing something objectively. It’s good to have people who are empathic and reinforce your responses, but for dealing with a problematic work situation you may need someone else to help you determine how best to solve it.
