They gave you back to your parents after they had been arrested for almost beating you to death?

About a year later, I was emancipated at sixteen and moved out of my parents’ for good. I lived with a friend’s family until I was eighteen and then joined the military.
I was abused as a kid and this is what happened.

They gave you back to your parents after they had been arrested for almost beating you to death? I know this happens but when I hear it first hand it’s always so unbelievable that we have a system that does things like this!
