Unfortunately, we see the holocaust as a single even in time, not as one of numerous cases of attempted or even successful genocide that continues to occur across time. While we are outraged at the children being seperated from their parents, all it has to do is fallout of public view for a single news cycle and we’re onto something else. Maybe not all of us, but enough that whatever momentum may have been building towards trying to force a policy change lost steam and didn’t have enough left to continue to carry it up the Hill. We need to learn to be the ones to influence what is in the news and not the other way around.
