Yes, absolutely correct. They may also do this with children. As they have a very fragile self-esteem they may see children as competition for the attention they want. This can be especially damaging since Grandparents are at least adults and were adults when the parent was born while a child gets raised in that environment and can’t do anything about it even if they wanted to nor can they understand it.
